When child abuse is reported in the media, neighbors often say that they thought something was wrong, yet too often no reports of known or suspected abuse were made to the police or local child protective services agency. We are all at fault for allowing this to occur. We are all responsible for the safety of our children. - Every year in Howard County there are over 1800 reports of suspected child abuse or neglect - In our country an estimated 906,000 children are victims of abuse and neglect every year - 70% of child abuse victims are children under the age of three - 1,500 children die each year in the United States due to abuse and neglect - Currently there are over 80 children living in foster, relative care or residential treatment facilities in Howard County due to abuse and neglect |
